World of Fun Learning Experiences with Peppa Pig and Friends

Step into Peppa's World in this fun learning app. World of Peppa Pig is an all-in-one educational app featuring 3 engaging areas of activities for curious minds and little Peppa Pig fans of course.

The 4 core activities offered in the app are LEARN, PLAY, CREATE and WATCH with a FEATURED Section that would randomly recommend various activities from the 3 areas. With the monthly subscription the developer promises new weekly content so parent and kids can jump onto the FEATURED area to check what's new for the week from time to time.

First to note is that each section comes with 12 different activities so one should get about 36 different activities at any given week, the developer has not mentioned how many new activities get included each week so hopefully there's a substantial amount to keep things fresh.

Let's start with the PLAY area, in this section obviously for the playful ones is all about engaging curiosity with discovery and exploration. Activities include Jigsaw Puzzles, listening to silly sounds, Hide a& Seek Games, Connect the Dots and Stacking Blocks.

Some of these activities introduce kids to the concept of cleaning up with Peppa which was good to see as kids should be aware of their responsibilities with simple real life chores. Other classic games include Spot the Difference which are great activities for Parents to join in.

In LEARN it's all about Preschool activities with the usual favorites like the alphabets, numbers shapes and some light read-a0longs.

Kids can enjoy the complete alphabet fromA to Z in the form of a virtual flipbook but it would have been nice to have more interaction and tappable element to make it more engaging.

Counting number with Peppa on the other has was slightly more interactive by letting kids join in with the added animated counting cues to help kids get involved. Though it still face the same limitations as the alphabet version.

To expand on numbers the app included a Supermarket Shopping game where kids join Peppa and Mommy Pig as they get the right amount of things they need from their shopping list. Kids just refer to the list and drag and drop the items into the trolley. Certainly an activity that kids can do in real life when they go to the store with their parents.

Other learning activities within the LEARN area include short read-a-long stories featuring Peppa and Friends. In the above example kids can listen to stories while the words are highlighted as the narrator reads the story.

The CREATE area is a section where kids can explore their creative side and engage in more painting and crafty activities. Kids can color with Peppa or enjoy some dress up to explore various clothing and their relevant roles which is great for parents and kids to explore together.

There's a fun sticker activity that includes 5 different scenarios which kids build upon. By dragging and dropping various element kids can customize Peppa's World as much as they like.

Finally the WATCH area is sure to satisfy the true Peppa fans. Filled with various short clips of their favorite Peppa episodes it's a perfect way to manage watch time and also serves as a fun reward from learning.

To keep the concept of learning consistent in this section it includes an alternative style of animated flashcards focused on specific letters. All clips can be downloaded for offline playback as long as one has a full subscription.

Summary
Overall for USD4.99* a month there quite a fair amount of activities for kids to engage in. The promise of updated content every week is great but it really depends how many elements are updated per week.


In terms of recommended devices, we think World of Peppa Pig is better suited for large screen tablets. While playback of most areas like the alphabets and numbers flashcards will be fine on a small screen the real challenge comes when using smaller screens to conduct activities like painting.

When we paired the app with an iPad Pro 12.9 with an Apple Pencil the painting activity was perfect. The finer tip and bigger real estate helped in keeping colors within lines and smaller areas. If your child enjoys coloring then running it on a tablets is a must. While fingers can do the trick it will prove challenging due to the large surface area of our finger tips especially if your child is OCD about keeping it within the line.

From a user experience perspective it's a well built app with good touch response and fluid animation and interactivity. While it could do with more interactivity with some learning sections it still offer a fair amount of activities for hours of fun. Be sure to preload all activities to minimize wait time for content download though downloading new content was fairly quick when we test it.
